Eleanor Christie

Epiderma

My practice is largely underpinned by Philosophical considerations of embodiment.
Most of my works are material investigations of bodies, what it means to be in one and reconceptualising corporeal space, with a strong focus on marginalised, abject, and liminal bodies.

Skin exists as our site of interactivity, the permeable membrane through which we relate with the outside world.

It is the leaky border between self and other, a liminal trespassing between the self we recognise and the body we often don’t.

Materiality wound up in memory,

Skin & Cloth, Fabric & Flesh.
